DCNYF ANIMATION WORKSHOPS!!!

Hi all!

As I mentioned previously, I've been planning some workshops with Dublin City Council Libraries and Dublin Chinese New Year Festival as part of the Chinese New Year celebration's this February. We've managed to put together a programme of workshops that will cover a good range of Dublin City, 10 workshops in all, 6 thaumatrope workshops which are in partnership with local primary schools and 4 flipbook workshops which are available to book by contacting the host libraries.
(For the flipbook classes I'll have thaumatropes with me as well in case anyone wants to try their hand at that too)

Here is the timetable of activities:

Tuesday February 1st:

1. 1000-1100 - Thaumatrope Workshop

I will be assisted by two 2nd Year Ballyfermot Animation students Adrián and Kellie, as well as my fellow Dún Laoghaire graduates Rachel and Lisa.

PS. Unfortunately I wasn't able to facilitate a stop-motion workshop, but something is in the works that might come to pass in the next few months. I hope this guy is some consolation in the meanwhile.

Décollage Découpage + IFTA Nomination

Hey ya'll,
I embellished a jewellery box for a birthday present. There ya go.

Also: Head Space (2010 dir Patrick Semple) is up for an IFTA this year.
I spent about 5 months overall on the project between doing character animation with pencil on paper, sound design with blocks of wood, hand saws and piping, and then special effects animation and compositing in After Effects. It was completed at Barley Films in April of 2010. Some examples of the visual work is viewable on my showreel.
Best of luck to Paddy and the film's producer Barry O'Donoghue and indeed the rest of the nominees, which are mighty tough competition!

Animation Workshops in the IFI on the 30th Dec

Hi all!
After the success of Christian's workshop earlier on this year I was asked to return and facilitate another children's animation workshops in the Irish Film Institute in Templebar.

I showed the class how to make thaumatropes, a camera-less form of animation.






I also brought along an example of a flipbook and some of my professional work, which helped to get the children thinking about what else they could do with the medium.

Some more workshops are in the works at the moment, I will keep you posted!!
